Security For Instant Messenger - Is It Futuristic Or Prehistoric?

There is a lot of concern about security for instant messenger programs. But is there really enough cause for concern, with updates coming out nearly everyday for these instant messenger programs and is the threat of security really an issue? Many people use these programs without worry, never thinking about the security issues that may come up. Many people may think about spyware being installed onto their computers before they consider installing any instant messengers onto their computer, but is there any reason to fear?

Instant messengers have become as popular as emails, which means that there are millions of people who are using instant messengers everyday, which in return makes it a heaven for potential hackers. So security for instant messenger has to be extremely tight, instant messaging security is always the prime concern for the companies who are providing these services such as Yahoo who can provide an instant yahoo service.

Of course the companies are already adding extra security for instant messenger, there are instant messaging security messages that can pop up when you are talking to someone. The message doesn't provide much information it gives out ideas that you should keep in mind but these really are just common sense such as not giving out your phone number or credit card information to anyone. But those are not the risks that companies need to look out for. Just only a few months ago there was a virus that would try and add you to their messenger list then bombard you with websites that you should view. Upon opening these webpages you were given a virus onto your computer.

Many people now believe that due to the ever-increasing use of instant messaging conversations Trojan attacks on your computer will be on the increase. Trojan viruses are getting harder to detect and therefore they can almost arrive onto your computer undetected for weeks on end. There is the sensible option of updating your virus detector and always keep your firewall on.

Security for instant messenger can be fairly easy to maintain. There are numerous ways to make sure that viruses do not attack you simply for instant messenger using. There is the option to just add your close friends onto your messenger list and your work colleagues, otherwise you might have in instant yahoo members trying to contact you, or which ever company you may be using for instant messenger.

As the months go by, security will get tighter for these instant messenger programs. Instant messaging is the way forward for communications on a computer to another person. The added incentive of talking to your friend or a family member live and as if you were there is why so many people use the service. Also a customers favourite word free will always entice them to try it out at least and see if it is all it's cracked up to be.

It is a tough market out there now especially with many people already with other companies, but no company can ever claim to have a service that is virus free, especially an instant messenger company. They have managed to keep the hackers out so far but is it only a matter of time before someone breaks in?
