Scandinavian people are known for their cozy get together. This is the time when family and friends can come together based on the agreements and arrangements previously made. This is the modern life of Scandinavian people, as they prefer to have their own space. There is a close relationship between the Nordic Scandinavian countries as they are in a sense a family unit. That is why you can find a similarity in the Norwegian, Danish and Swedish names.
There are many popular Scandinavian names that are used by the Nordic countries. Although it states that Finland is a part of the Scandinavian family they have a hardly close relationship with the Nordic countries, which are also part of the Scandinavian community. The result of this is that one can see that the language spoken in Finland is so far from being close to any of the Nordic countries. In a sense Finland is an outsider in the family unit that Sweden, Norway and Denmark have. This is due mainly to the fact that Finland fell under Russian rule and it does not have any ethnic ties to the Scandinavian countries that Norway, Sweden and Denmark have.
A Scandinavian name will only be popular with its citizens of that country all though Denmark, Sweden and Norway are all together in a nice little happy family the names used for their citizens of each country will only be popular in that country. So popular Scandinavian names do not have to be popular everywhere in Scandinavia but even if you don't have a popular name it doesn't really matter because you will still have a Scandinavian name and you are in a Scandinavian country so you are not going to be considered an outsider just for having a Scandinavian name that is unpopular amongst the other Scandinavian countries.
A Scandinavia name is the main part of that Scandinavian citizen that will be called that name for the rest of their life and so they will want a name that sounds good strong and powerful so that it shows that I am Scandinavian and I am proud to be Scandinavian. The Scandinavian countries do not have that many popular Scandinavian names they will always differ from country to country and they will never have the same popular Scandinavian name. Every Scandinavian name will try and be different whether it is slightly modified or it is completely changed it will be a Scandinavian name at the end of the day because it was given to the child by its Scandinavian parents and that is the most important thing to remember.
Scandinavian people are very proud of their Scandinavian roots and a Scandinavian name will clarify their roots in their Scandinavian country whether it is Denmark, Norway or Sweden the roots to that country are cemented thanks to the name that they are given. Popular or not they have the name and they live in Scandinavia so they should be proud to have that name attached to their Scandinavian heritage.
Scandinavians love giving names to their children, who wouldn't, but when in Scandinavia the Scandinavian couple may opt for a popular Scandinavian name or they may go for an entirely different name. But whatever they choose, they will do so because they are a couple that believes strongly in keeping the Scandinavian heritage in their family strong and they hope that they can pass that heritage onto their children.
