Why don't you walk up to him and ask him yourself.
In 1988 Samuel L Jackson had been acting for about 15 years when he landed the role of an armed robber in the hit comedy Coming To America. It was a brief role but Jackson's presence on the screen caught the eye of film maker Spike Lee. In 1989 Lee cast Samuel L Jackson in Do The Right Thing which wound up introducing the world to Samuel L Jackson for good. After Do The Right Thing Samuel L Jackson was a very busy man because not only did he do the 1990 Spike Lee movie Mo' Better Blues and the 1991 Spike Lee movie Jungle Fever but he also found time in that 2 year span to appear in such classic movies as Goodfellas, Sea Of Love, and The Return Of Superfly. After 1991 Samuel L Jackson started working on the hard edged image that would make him an American icon and one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood. It was also moving him towards finally being a leading man.

In 1994 Quentin Tarantino cast Samuel L Jackson in the role that would finally break him out as a leading man. For his work in the 1994 movie Pulp Fiction Jackson was nominated for an Oscar and even though he didn't win he still was receiving the recognition he deserved. In 1996 he put in an memorable performance in the hit movie A Time To Kill and since then he has been making movies steadily every year. His performances are too many to list here but if you had not heard of Samuel L Jackson prior to 2006 then chances are the movie Snakes On A Plane made you sick of hearing Samuel L Jackson's name. He still works very hard every year and has several new productions schedule for release in the next year or so including the much anticipated 2008 release Iron Man.
