If you are interested in posting pictures online to a dating, personals, matchmaking website or anywhere else on the internet for that matter, there are a few things you should know before you do it. Here are a couple of things that could help you when posting photos online.
How and requirements:
On most websites and forums that allow posting photos they have a feature box/form that lets you find the file on your hard drive and upload it from there and all it takes is about two clicks. It is very easy and simple. Most sites will only take photos in the form of JPG or Jpeg or GIF's as they are the most compact and are optimized for the internet. They take up little space. Many website's will only take photos of a smaller KB (kilobits) and pixel size, so for example a site might take nothing over 600pxls by 600pxls and nothing larger than 500kbs.
Each web site differs when it comes to these sort or photo posting requirements so make sure you check them out before you upload a photo.
If the web site you are thinking about posting photos to doesn't have such features as stated above, like a forum then you will have to load your photo by using a method of HTML. HTML is usually simple to execute and usually doesn't have any size requirements but if you are new to it then go and look for a HTML tutorial, there are plenty of them on the internet.
Some website rules:
Many website's, especially dating and matchmaking websites have rules that you must abide by when posting pictures online. These rules can differ from site to site, but a typical dating website photo posting rules are: photos must contain you. No cartoon or funny web graphic images. No close ups of tattoos or piercing. Contain no nudity, violence or paintings (even if it is you). No famous people, cars, scenery, copyrighted, children or childhood pictures. Never post photos of an inappropriate nature. Make sure when photo posting that you read the rules otherwise your image will be deleted.
Photo Posting and online safety:
The biggest problem with photo posting on the internet these days is that people can so easily steal other pictures or use misleading ones and try to pass them off as themselves, which so often leads them to trouble especially on dating websites. So here are some tips that will lead to a pleasant and fun time while chatting.
Never post a misleading photo of yourself, make sure that it is recent and un retouched. Honesty always works best especially if you hit it off with someone and would eventually like to meet them but can't because you posted a photo that is misleading or isn't yourself at all.
Never post photos where you can see any sort of personal information about yourself, where you live or work, your full name or any of your children's or your family's information.
If you are worried that someone may steal your photo you can easily give it a watermark. Watermarks are placed on the photo but do not obscure it. There are many programs for watermarking or some popular programs like photoshop or paintshop have such features already within them.
Photo posting should be a carefree and easy thing to do if you do it right and take the right safety measures.
