A rootkit and worm is a malicious software that installs itself over the computer and not just that but it gives complete access to the hacker to all your files and folders without the administrator of the computer knowing that.
A worm although goes for a username or password on the computer. Rootkit and its functions include targeting the system files making the computer vulnerable to the hacker to access. A rootkit and a worm are closely interconnected as a rootkit might have worms in itself or a worm might help a rootkit to install in to the computer. It’s almost impossible to detect a rootkit and the worm in a computer. Good anti-virus software won’t even do you any good. A malware protection is also useless but according to some expertise the only thing might work after getting infected by a rootkit is to format your entire hard drive and start over. How pathetically if you do detect a rootkit and delete it including the infected files it will still keep coming back unless you remove it completely from the system and formatting is the only answer. The Microsoft admits there is yet no operating system that can fight rootkits or worms.
People are more concerned about a rootkit in a university, schools, libraries or café’s computer as some internet users are using rootkit to hide music, pornography, probably terrorist activities or other illegal stuff hidden in the computers from the administrator’s consent. The computer pros out there are doing everything to come up with a software to detect rootkits and such harmful malicious softwares that just isn’t a threat to a computer but to the world as well.
Some people believe that rootkits are impossible to remove but some of the experts’ share that they think a rootkit removal program would be enough to detect and delete a rootkit. But prevention is always better than cure, think twice before clicking a link, avoid visiting websites with ads all over the page or pop-up ads etc.
