For many people, the online friend is someone with whom they share jokes, funny emails and that's about it. The internet has made possible much, much more. With chat rooms, instant messaging, places like "MySpace.com" and others, the online friend could become the next Mr. or Mrs. Right. Establishing online friendships can be very rewarding, or very disappointing.

I have been online trying to make friendships happen for over ten years. I can hardly remember some of the people that I used to email every day during the effort. I don't think I'm that unusual in that respect. However, every once in a while you find a real friend on the internet, someone that you are able to get along with so easily that you realize that you have found your best online friendship ever. I am lucky to have one of those friends right now.
