The act of blood brother was set in 1930s in Shanghai. Although the concept of becoming blood brother is quite common in some religions. A ceremony is held where to men take oath of becoming blood brothers for the rest of their lives, who will watch each others back like brothers do. Another kind of blood brotherhood is the common one i.e. brothers related by birth. This happens only if siblings are from same mother or same father.

There are many reasons to become blood brothers with someone and there are many ways to do it. Some people become blood brothers because they feel that they were supposed to be brothers anyways and the ceremony makes them official. It isn’t very sanitary but becoming blood brothers is the ultimate show of solidarity between to people that can be done by an elaborate ceremony or just as a private thing between two people.
