For years women have been making music, but for years there was no official genre of feminist or lesbian music. All that changed in the 1960s and 1970s with the birth of the woman's music genre - which is music made for, by, and about women. This movement spawned many feminist and lesbian musicians, artists, record labels, journals, and women’s music festivals.

The movement of women's feminism also brought Women's music. The entire concept of women's music is that the music is created by women, performed by women and is about women. This began many decades ago and is an important element that reflects the importance of women's rights and the need for equality. One should be aware of the history of women's music; as knowledge is power.

Can you think of any women that listen to women's music? Do you think women's music has any ulterior motive with in the different areas or rather what affect women's music has on people? I believe that based on the reality of life and many other things that happen in this day and age, women's music affect people, most of all women, in many ways and more than people think.
