The Women's Environment & Development Organization (WEDO) was founded in 1991 by Bella Abzug and Mim Kelber to facilitate and sustain women's development. WEDO has worked hard over the last couple of decades to ensure gender-balanced governance, government accountability, and to keep women in decision making roles in many global forums including the United Nations.

Women have been fighting for equal rights as that of men in various societies across the world. In order to put up a united face and go ahead with their struggle, they have formed different forums. These forums are the ideal platforms to make women's voices heard. These forums and organizations have been doing a great service to womankind by highlighting their struggle for rights.
