The infamous site claimed that it was completely legal for people to choose to share files with each other. That site was closed down eventually, but hundreds have shown up in its place.
While it may seem very tempting to choose to not download music legal, a person should think carefully about all aspects before they double-click on a favorite song. It may seem that in doing so, they save themselves the time and hassle of going to a store to buy the CD and also they, of course, will save money. While we all want to save any amount of money when it is at all possible, there is quite a downside to the process.

A lot of people will take the approach that these artists make so much money, most are millionaires and that the artist does not really need the money after all. A person, as an individual does not have say as to the income of an artist. They usually make a lot of money, it is not for a person to argue that, and it does not make it right to do an action that will cause their earned money to decrease.
Another very important reason to consider the action of downloading music legal, is that when downloading a song, it can wreak havoc on your computer. No mater what virus protection a person has, no matter the firewalls; downloading music and other files are a main reason that people download spyware and other viruses. It is hard to believe that people have the time or wish to put the effort into filling music files with nasty things to harm your computer; but it happens every day. While it may appear that all of the visitors to a site are in a way, friends; this is not the case. If you plan to stockpile your music collection; careful thought to downloading music legal; if not a computer can get infested and we all know how difficult it is to rid the computer of viruses.
