Naturism, or nudism, is much more than parading around with no clothes on. It is not a perverted lifestyle or freakish lifestyle at all, and has as little to do with the negative connotation of the word "hippie" as can be imagined. Naturism at its purist is a love of freedom, a celebration of nature, and an unadulterated reverence of the human body. What could be wrong with that?
As it stands, naturism is growing by leaps and bounds around the globe. No longer is it just France that sports topless beaches. Every hemisphere, every corner of this globe holds at least one safe haven for nudists. There are now thousands of spa’s, resorts, and beaches reserved for naturists. There are now tens of thousands of organizations devoted to the joy of naturism. Even in the prudish United States, almost every major city sports some sort of Naturist organization, and why not, naturism is joy, not fear.
To get a proper perspective of naturism, one must first understand the naturist. The average naturist is healthy, no specific sex, age, or body type, but they are mentally healthy and strong. Most are fit, as they tend to be outgoing people that love activities and the outdoor world so much, they want to be one with it. Most naturists are very happy, upbeat people. They don’t believe in worry or guilt or fear, and they exhibit this belief by literally letting it all hang out without a care in the world. What possibly could be the downside to this philosophy? Look hard as you might, unless you carry some bogus moral stance that tells you there is something wrong with the human body, you will find that there is nothing socially unacceptable about nudism.
Nudist beaches, camps, resorts, and spas feature healthy activities. Peruse any brochure, website, or nudist message board. They speak of sunny days, athletic activities, finding and enjoying nature, cookouts, competitions, surfing, and swimming, all things enjoyable and wholesome. If only school systems featured so much healthy activity.
Quite frankly, most people sit around and watch the tube every spare minute, indulging in foods they eat out of boredom, or feeding habits that are bad for them. Pure naturism is a path to freedom of the mind as well as body. If you can get past the trepidation of letting everyone see who and what you really are, and can stand unashamed in the wind and the sun with your fellow man or woman, you can find the joy of healthy nudism.
Naturism is one of many ways to find happiness and contentment, but far from popular thought, it is not some liberal craziness. It works for any and everyone brave enough to give it a try, because naturism is a celebration of life, not a fear of death or everyday worries, not a marketing campaign designed to spotlight drunken girls gone insane, or designed to take advantage of anyone, it is the enjoyment of the universe and creation, and all the wonderful things therein.
