As children grow they need a lot of nutrients from food in order for there internal and external organs to develop properly. If children don’t have enough nutrients and the right nutrients from different kinds of foods then, they could and probably will develop various diseases and they will probably get sicker than children who have access to the right kinds of foods that have healthy nutrients. Poor children often don’t have the right amount of food so that they bones and bodies can develop properly. Children need a certain amount of protein from foods like hamburger, poultry, different kids, of nuts, such as peanuts, and a wide variety of fish. They also need a certain amount of fruits and vegetables such as blueberries, strawberries, corn, and tomatoes. A great source of fruits and vegetables for children often comes from a wide variety of juices such as orange and tomato juice. Children also need a large amount of dairy to grow strong bones. Dairy products include milk, and cheese. Ice cream is also a dairy product but needs to be eaten in moderation. Breads and grains are also an important part of children’s diet. There are specific amounts of all the above food groups that children need to eat daily to stay healthy. However, it is possible that poor children don’t get the required amount of food per day to be healthy.
Many people only believe that poor children only live in third world countries. However, poor children live in developed countries such as the United States and Europe. Society needs to help these children become healthier and more productive citizens. One way to get these children to become healthier and more productive citizens is through education. Another way is to have these children have after school activities that they love. Perhaps getting involved in a sport such as baseball or foot ball in the neighborhood park or getting involved in the community center free ballet class will help their self esteem grow and flourish throughout the rest of their lives. Self esteem is really important because if poor children have good self esteem, which is helped out by getting lots of love , attention, and encouragement from their parents the, poor children will be rich were it counts and will not feel like they are poor. It is more important to be rich in caring and love than it in to have material wealth.
