There are many different reasons for countries to partake in the Olympic games, and of course, over the last many years the politics in the Olympic games have changed. As things happen outside the games some countries choose not to be in the games, and this is something sad to see. Whenever a country chooses to not be in the Olympic games they are going against the whole reason why the games were started, and that was to bring places closer together. Politics in the games have changed with time, but there are always a few things that remain the same.
Any country that has been in the Olympic games has to say that it was a great honor to be a part of it. I mean something that is this big is always great. However, just like some of the politics in the games change so do the countries that partake in the games. In the Olympic games in 1936, you saw for the first time where politics had a major effect on the games. This is where Hitler had a chance to show off the brand new Germany. This was during the post WWI time, and he wanted to prove that his Aryan race was the best in every aspect. He also wanted to prove that blacks where so far below the skill level of the Aryan race that the could never win the games. However, some of the athletes in the games like Jesse Owens had other thinks to say. This was not the only time that there was politics in the games. In the 1980 Los Angeles games, the USSR, East Germany, Cuba, and some other countries boycotted the Olympic games. However, this was the fist time that China had chosen to play since 1932.
Some times you have to take the good with the bad. Because of this we live and we learn. It is going to take time for everyone to become prefect. Who are we kidding, people are never going to be perfect. However, that does not change the fact that games can bring us closer together. Being in the Olympic games with other countries is a great way for us to grow as a nation. I mean, going to other countries is cool. I mean, I have always wanted to go to Japan to see what it is like.
