Playing games is a big part of our society and culture. We often like to play games in order to keep our minds and bodies fresh and active. We also play both physical and mental games in order to relieve stress. The mental games that we might play are chess, checkers, Trivial Pursuit, and Candy Land. The physical games that we might play are baseball, football; ice skating, tennis, skiing, racquetball, and handball. Tennis, racquetball, and handball are sports that are quite similar because all of these sports might require people to use a racquet in order to play these sports. In addition, it is possible that these racquet sports can be and are either played on an indoor court or an outdoor court. In fact, many people who play racquetball or handball often play these sports in a gymnasium. No matter where handball and racquetball are played playing these physical sports are a great way to exercise and to release stress. Therefore, it is advisable to try handball when people wish to exercise, relieve stress, and relax after a hard and long day of work. Racquetball and tennis are good racquet sports to play; however for now it’s time to discuss the sport of handball in order to get people to try handball.

People who enjoy sports should try handball when they get a chance to do so. The sport of handball is also called team handball, field handball, European handball, and Olympic handball. Handball is a team sport in which two teams of seven players a piece pass and bounce a ball in an attempt to throw the ball into the goal of the opposing team. Handball has a goal similar to but smaller than the goal used in soccer, Europeans might call soccer football. The name of the sport handball implies that players handle the ball with their hands rather than their feet. Did you know that the sport of handball has been played internationally since the 1920’s? Therefore, it seems as if both handball and the Charleston were very popular in the 1920’s; that means that many people around the world try handball on a regular basis. However, before trying handball people need to know and to understand how the sport of handball is played. Let’s talk about the ball that is used in the sport of handball.

The ball in handball is smaller than a soccer ball in order that players are able to hold and handle it with one hand; although handling the ball with two hands is perfectly acceptable. Some versions of American handball use a volleyball to play this game. It is moved by bouncing it between a player’s hand and the floor; this is similar to basketball. A player may only hold the ball in their hands for three seconds and may only take three steps with the ball in their hand. Ball movement and possession is very similar to basketball because if the charger commits an infraction such as charging, the possession of the ball can and often is awarded to the defending team. Players might also lose possession of the ball for their team if they take more than three steps without dribbling the ball or stopping their dribble.
A standard handball match lasts for about sixty minutes. Each game has one time out. In addition, league handball games are allowed to end in a tie. Handball matches don’t last very long and it is great exercise; therefore please try handball someday soon.
