Handball is probably one of the games which kindle your spirit of sport like no other. If you want to try out your hands on a game which is demanding yet at the same time relaxing, play handball. This is one game which you would love to play again and again, once you have tried your hands on it. So, no matter where you are, what you do, and who you are with, handball is one game which can capture the imagination of anyone who likes to play his heart out.
Actually, handball has a lot of similarities with the most popular game in the world football. Just like football, handball has two teams competing for the victory. There is a goal post which is smaller than the actual football goalpost. There is a goalkeeper in each team trying to save the goal for his team. The only and perhaps the most important difference is that football is played by players kicking and dribbling the ball, whereas here players play handball by throwing and passing the ball with their hands. The game is being played in the international level right from the 1920s. Not only football, but handball also shares its similarities with basketball, which is again one of the most famous games in the world. Both games include handling the ball in hands, dribbling, passing, and throwing the ball, and many more. In handball, the size of the ball is smaller than the one used in football or basketball for that matter. This is because the players have to take the ball in their hands, throw it to each other, pass it to each other, throw from one end to the other end, and have to hit the goal with that. In order to make these things easier, the size of the ball is smaller that any player can actually hold the ball in his arms.
While two teams play handball, there are chances of players roughing up among themselves. In order to avoid that, the law of penalty is in place. If two players get roughed up, the referees might ask for the attacking team to go for a nine-meter free throw. If the behavior of the player is particularly aggressive and unnecessarily volatile, then he can be given a yellow card, which serves as a warning, a two-minute penalty which is considered a severe warning, or the most important red card, which means the player has been expelled from the game permanently. The issuing of cards is also similar to football and there are referees present in the game to maintain order. The game is actually considered a very quick game, which makes it even more interesting to play and even watch it. This is the reason why a lot of people love to play handball or even just watch it, just for the sheer pleasure of watching it.
