Planning A Wedding Fort Worth Style

Added: 03/07/2006

For many young women the seminal event of their early adulthood is the planning of their dream wedding. Fort Worth, Texas offers numerous venues for special wedding ceremonies ranging from Western-themed chapels to elegant country clubs. Regardless of a bride's taste or budget, Fort Worth has a venue to meet the unique needs of couples planning their wedding day.

Numerous venues exist in Fort Worth, Texas to plan and host the wedding of your dreams. Fort Worth bridal resources run the gamut from a Western-themed wedding in the historic Stockyards district to an elegant affair at one of the city's country clubs. For young women few choices are as sentimental and critical as the planning of their dream wedding. Fort Worth offers many settings to turn that dream into a cherished reality.

Although it would seem like an unlikely source for Fort Worth bridal offerings, the historic Stockyards district does feature a wedding chapel with an adjacent "New Frontier" reception parlor. The Stockyards Wedding Chapel, in the center of the Stockyards National Historical District, actually has two venues for a ceremony, the Double Diamond Wedding Chapel and the Hitchin' Post Wedding Chapel.

The New Frontier Reception Parlor will accommodate a hundred guests and the chapel offers comprehensive packages that include such items as table centerpieces and optional food and beverage service. In addition, the happy couple can give their wedding Fort Worth-esque ambiance by leaving in a horse-drawn carriage, exchanging vows mounted on horseback, or even riding off for their honeymoon aboard a longhorn steer. After all, Fort Worth isn't called "Cow Town" for nothing.

An equally historic but less western setting is also available for your wedding. Fort Worth is home to the Eddleman-McFarland House, a Queen Anne style Victorian structure dating to 1899. Nothing could be more perfect than a wedding on the manicured front lawn of this elegant, turn-of-the-century mansion. (Normally ceremonies in this venue are relatively small with perhaps 125 guests in attendance.)

The Marty Leonard Chapel offers another architectural gem for a dream wedding. Fort Worth is home to the Lena Pope Home and the chapel sits on the grounds of the facility. Although there are no adjacent reception facilities, a ceremony in the chapel with its sixty-foot skylight is well worth having to transport guests elsewhere for the post-wedding festivities. (Prices for the chapel range from $700 to $1,500 depending on day and date desired.)

There are several local country clubs suitable for a wedding. Fort Worth is home to the Rivercrest Country Club, Mira Vista Country Club, Colonial Country Club, and Diamond Oaks Country Club. (Note that membership restrictions may apply at any of these facilities.)

Whether your desire is for a Western-themed wedding, a ceremony set in an architecturally stunning building, or the convenience of a country club and the amenities such facilities tend to offer, there is no shortage of potential venues in Fort Worth, Texas. Although Fort Worth lacks the reputation for glitz cherished by its trendier neighbor city, Dallas, Fort Worth makes up for the difference with a unique emphasis on elegance and small town civility and recognition that events such as weddings are special and cherished celebrations in the life of a young woman and her family.
