Did we peak your interest? Honestly I bet we did grab your interest if you are a history fanatic. The history for the CT, Waterbury area is phenomenal. The town was originally settled back in 1674 but wasn’t actually a complete city at that time. The city of Waterbury, CT was actually a town plot section. It was vacated during the French and Indian War but during the year of 1677 it was returned but not in the exact location. It was settled more west of the first location. You can see the historical information at the place of the first location because both locations are now marked. But the city of Waterbury, CT wasn’t actually incorporated as a “city” until the year 1853.

I image you have heard of, or maybe some family member had heard of the “Mad Bomber”. Well, the gentleman who was the actual bomber, George Metesky, was from CT, Waterbury police actually arrested him in 1957. When he was arrested he told the CT, Waterbury police that he was indeed the bomber which caused havoc in New York City. He was found insane and sentenced to the Metteawan State Hospital until his release in 1973. Once out he did continue to live in the city of Waterbury, CT until he was 90 years old. Like I said, not a pretty historical moment for the state of CT, Waterbury did handle the situation as best they could and not too many people got hurt.

Now that the little basic history lesson is over I image that CT, Waterbury has a few other reason to visit the area. The best place to stop for the aristocracy of the area stop by the Main Street in Waterbury. The physical appearance of Waterbury has been preserved and the city revitalized. There is beautiful architecture within the downtown area. Many events both private and public go on within the town.

For the shopper in you, there are many different places to shop no matter what you are looking for. The main shopping attraction is the Brass Mill Center and Commons. The center has many different stores within its walls including major stores. The first which is a must in any shopping center is Old Navy. There is a Macy’s, Sears, Barnes & Noble and even an American Eagle to name just a few. Of course what mall or center would not be complete without places to sit and eat; Ruby Tuesday is always a favorite of mine and of course there is one here. There is also a pizzeria, a Chili’s, T.G.I. Fridays and a few others. Do not forget that if you are a movie person there is a cinema located inside also.

It doesn’t matter what you are looking at doing, why you are actually visiting CT, Waterbury is the perfect place to stop either for the day or just to stop by for a minute to get a few sights in. No matter what take a look at the wonderful historic city of Waterbury, CT.
