People Love The Film Sense And Sensibility Added: 12/02/2007

There are a few novels out there in the world that are so good that they need to be made into a movie. Of course, a lot of people do not think of really old novels making great movies, but if you have seen Sense and Sensibility then you may think differently. A novel came out back in 1811 that was also called Sense and Sensibility. Does it just so happen that these two things have the same name? No they are indeed a remake of each other, and for the most part the Sense and Sensibility film stays very true to the novel. However, if you have read this novel and then go see the film, you are going to see that a few things have been changed. To me that is the one and only problem to the movie. I feel like the novel was perfect so to go back and change something that does not need to be changed is not only a bad idea, it takes away from the film. Of course, if you have never read the book you are not going to know what is different, and you are going to love the movie. I have read the book, and I have to say that Sense and Sensibility movie let me down a little bit. It was still a great movie, and I did indeed enjoy it. At the same time I wanted it to be just like the book. I wanted to see the pages come to life and show a story, and see how close I was to getting it right in my head when I was reading it. However, for the most part it did stay very true to the book so I was not to let down by the whole thing. Also, this is a film that was made in many different places so as you can see this film is amazing to look at. I love seeing all the different locations, and it give you a great look at how things would have looked back in the day. I think that is one reason why the movie was so good. The cities looked just like I pictured them to look.

Of course, as it turned out most people did not care that the movie had changed a little bit from the novel. In fact, it ended up winning a lot of awards, and being nominated for a lot of Academy Awards as well. It won a Golden Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival. It was also the winner of an Academy Award for Best Screenplay. We can also not forget to talk about the Golden Globe it won for Best Screenplay as well. In case you have not caught on, people love this screenplay. Sense and Sensibility had a few more things going for it than just a great story. It also had a lot of great actors in it. This is something that you have to have in a movie because it moves the story along. Without great actors you have no one to tell your story, and it is no good. You have to be able to get the story across to people in a way that they are both happy to be watching the film and they are also feeling drawn into the film. When I go watch a movie I want to forget I am watching a movie. I want to be taken into the movie and feel like that is my life. That is what a movie is suppose to do. You need to able to watch it for the first time, the whole time, and forget you are watching a movie. If the film can do that then you are going to know for sure it is a great film.

If you have never read the novel Sense and Sensibility then the movie is for you. However if you read the book you may be a little let down as I was. Of course, no matter how you look at this movie it was a good one. Sense and Sensibility is one of those movies that has to be in your DVD collection because you are going to want to show it off to your friends.
