Paris - for generations called "the city of light", but it's also a city of music, images, dining and sounds! In fact, when it comes to nightlife Paris, I'd venture to say that just about anything that catches your fancy is available. When the sun sets, another segment of society comes up for air. And the long lines that tend to meander in and around museums and parks now filter in and out of a variety of casual jazz bars, cafes, high-tech dance clubs and other forms of entertainment not suitable for children, but made-to-order for adults. When it comes to nightlife Paris, this city has it all - for a price.
If sequins, lace, bright lights and music are your interest, nightlife Paris has a variety of venues that offer up Cabaret entertainment. The movie "Moulin Rouge" shined a spotlight on what Paris does best, but of course the city has been doing this since most of today's tourists were even born! Nightlife Paris splits apart like an amoeba: the Marais neighborhood for progressive clubs that cater to gays and lesbians, rue Oberkampf offers up plenty of clubbing for the younger set, and the Bastille quarter mixes it all together with a wide array of night clubs for any taste.
But Paris night life has more...a lot more! If you're intent on missing a house or car payment than money won't be an issue. Let's hope not - because the Champs-Elysées boasts plenty of high-priced clubs and entertainment, which of course attracts lots of tourists like yourself: men and women who don't know when they'll come back to Paris so they're prepared to spend big and act like the art deco-jetsetters they obviously aren't. But hey, you only go around once in life. Check out the Buddha Bar, with its signature Asian icon, and watch the people walk by. La Flèche d'Or is a mainstay of nightlife Paris and offers a unique mix of live music and alternative ambience. And if all you want to do is dance, dance, dance, then sidestep over to one of the top nightclubs Paris -- Queen. The word on the street is that it's a gay club, but this dance venue manages to keep its inclinations in check and attracts a mix of men and women who just want to spend time on the dance floor.
If you're a first-time visitor to Paris you may wonder where its nickname "city of light" comes from. Well, just wait until the sun sets. There's probably enough neon to light up two or three average cities. It's not only nightclubs Paris that light up, it's everything: the monuments and bridges are illuminated; the refurbished street lamps of long ago continue to shine as do an endless row of modern lamps as well. Add to that the never ending entry-ways to the clubs, cafes and restaurants and you've got one heck of a utilities bill coming your way! But this Paris nightlife and the Parisians wouldn't have it any other way. In any other part of the world, your average citizen is going to bed by 10pm, but in Paris they're just finishing dinner!
Paris nightlife. It will take a night or two just to get used to it. But why fight it. Go with the flow and do what the Parisians do. Enjoy life and wash it down with a glass of champagne!
