Pagan Beliefs About Different Holidays

Added: 11/08/2007

Pagan is a word that comes from the word Paganism, which comes from the Latin word paganus, which means an old country dweller, rustic. However, Pagan beliefs in America have come to show a broad set of different spiritual or cultic practices. This also refers to folk religion and of contemporary polytheistic religions as well. Pagan beliefs is a term that is very broadly used, and can and is used to pretty much define other types of faith that are outside Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc. as well as a few others.

Pagan beliefs are used to describe many different faiths like Indian religions, Shinto, Native American religions, as well as ethnic religions. Some ways you can characterize Pagan beliefs is by looking at the absence of proselytism, and this leads to the presence of a living mythology. This would explain the different religious practices. No matter what way you choose to look at Pagan beliefs, you have to remember that they have lots of different holidays that they believe in as well. However, there is no way for me to be able to name them all, because Pagan beliefs refer to a lot of different belief systems. One of the most common types of Pagan beliefs today would have to be Neopaganism which includes reconstructed religions. There are a lot of different reconstructed religions that you can choose to look at when you are talking about Pagan beliefs, but three of the religions that are reconstructed the most would be Hellenic, Celtic, and Germanic. There are many different off-shots of different traditions, but two of the most well known would be Discordianism and Wicca (Wicca is probably the most well known of the two). Wicca really got its roots in the 19th century and had many elements of occultism and theosophy in it. This is what set it apart from the historical paganus folk religion.

There are many different types of Pagan beliefs out there, and this is not something to be afraid of. Many people today are afraid to here the words Wicca and other beliefs like that. Many people around the world believe in many different things, and that does not make them wrong. In America you are allowed to believe in whatever you want, even if it is Pagan beliefs. So many people today have a problem with the way others think, and they are to busy trying to change peoples minds than stopping to listen to what those people have to say. Just because a person is not doing what you want them to, does not mean that they are wrong, and it does not mean that you have to change them. It is not right to try and force the way you think and believe on another person; this is something that should be left up to that person. If you like to do one thing and believe in a certain thing, then that is fine, but you should not make other people to do it with you. People should not have to live the way that other people tell them to, however, that is something that is hard for many people to understand. This is why so many wars have been fought. So many people want to chance everyone's way of thinking

Do not try and change someone else. If you do not believe what they are doing is right, then that is fine. You should not try and change them. This is something that is not fair and should not be done. No one, and that goes for everyone, should ever try and change (or make) someone follow a certain belief system. One day maybe people will grow up and know that it is everyone's own choice to believe in whatever they want to believe in. So the next time someone has Pagan beliefs, do not try and change them to what you think they should believe in. This is not your choice to make, and you do not have the right to try and change someone.
