P2p Photo Sharing Networks

Added: 10/26/2007

With the technology of taking digital photos is so easy and affordable that everyone either owns a digital camera or a cell phone with a camera. When people take that many photos of course they want to share it with their closed one’s as well. For that we have a lot of places where people can upload their photos but that allows everyone and anyone to view your photos. To keep your pictures privacy the best solution for sharing pictures is p2p photo sharing.

People love to upload their photos of themselves, their friends, family, pets etc and to give this urge an outlet there are a lot of forums where you can upload them like facebook, orkut, online photo sharing websites, photoblogs etc but one single problem in these forums are that they are too public. Everyone and anyone from the world can view your pictures without asking your permission which makes the owner of those pictures feel a little violated.

To put an end to this problem now you have p2p photo sharing networks where a user can make up his/her list of favorite people and then upload any of the pictures he/she wants to and share them with the contacts in their address book. You can share those photos on p2p photo sharing with either all of your contact list or some of the people in your contact list which does not make a user feel his privacy is being invaded.

Of course you would need an internet connection for p2p photo sharing but it’s a lot less hectic than actually uploading pictures on a website, a photoblog or a forum. P2p photo sharing allows a user to upload pictures and share them with people you know. It enables two computers to directly connect to each other, swap pictures and chit chat about them in real time. To start a p2p photo sharing network all you need is a software for p2p photo sharing. You can add up people you know and want to share your pictures with in that software, add up photos as much as you like, click on the snaps you want to share(they could be either all of them or some of the ones you uploaded) and click on share and your done. When a user shares pictures every person in his address book gets a notification telling you shared some photos.

One of the software that enables p2p photo sharing is Phanfare. A phanfare p2p photo hosting software after being downloaded offers a user his/her own personal webpage with almost a gigabyte of space for uploading pictures. You can also upload videos in this p2p photo and video sharing software. Now feeling the need of p2p photo sharing networks instant messaging service providers have also this feature. This way only people added to your messenger contact list can view those upload pictures and comment on them. Now sending attached pictures in an e-mail is boring and slow. This has been replaced by p2p photo sharing softwares or instant messengers where you can share a photo when a person is online or even offline.

PiXPO p2p photo and video sharing network (free, http://www.pixpo.com), gets kudos for the same feature that set PhotoShow apart, it is really awesome as it not only share photos with people using this software but you can send a link to your favorite contact which will allow that user to view thumbnail versions of these pictures and later can view the larger version after becoming a PiXPO client. It also outshine at organizing; it'll "quickly gather photos from your hard drive and organize them in various albums, which you can either store offline or instantly share with others," reports PC Magazine reviewer Cade Metz. This p2p photo sharing website will automatically import your Microsoft Outlook (or Outlook Express) address book at installation. The latest version of PiXPO now lets users share music and videos as well as photos.
