How many of you use the internet to chat with people around the world or people that you do not get to see all the time (even people you do see all the time)? I am going to say a lot of you, because that is one of the number one things the internet is used for, the ability to be able to chat with people. Safet of chat is something that is on the rise because people know that not everyone out there is who they say they are. Safet of chat goes for all types of communication when online including email, IM, and even chat rooms.

When you go online (or when your kids go online) it is likely that they are chatting with people. This is a fun way to spend your time online. The internet allows you to chat with people that you do not get to see very often, or in some cases people that you would never meet. However, with something that great, there is always trouble as well. Safet of chat is something that people need to be concerned about all the time online. It should also be something you teach your kids about before they get online to chat with people. The safet of chat is something that we are going to have to fight for because there are crazy people out there, and that is not the type of people we want our kids (or ourselves) talking to. If we can just spend a few moments talking about the safet of chat, then I know that we can keep not only our kids safe, but ourselves safe as well. This could also keep your computer safe from online viruses too; it is like killing two birds with one stone.

When talking about the safet of chat, you are talking about a lot of different things. You are talking about email, IM, and chat rooms. When using email you need to make sure that you do not open emails from people you do not know. These types of emails should always be scanned first before you open them. This way you can catch any viruses that may be hide with in them. That is your first safet of chat tip. Also, when you IM, make sure you know the person that you are talking to. This is because it is possible to send attachments though IM, and in any attachment you can send a virus. The real problem with online chat is, chat rooms. This is were lots of people get together to talk about a subject. Now, these are great places for people to hang out in, but it can also be a scary place as well. This is not because of viruses, this is because there are some sick people out there. When talking online with people you never know who you are really talking to. So when your kids go online to a chat room be sure to tell them to never give out any personal information. Lots of times grown men hang out in teen chat rooms and try to get young girls and boys to give out their information. This, of course, is not a good idea. Lots of kids have gone missing because they agree to meet with people that they meet online thinking that is was someone their age, when really it was not. Although this is something sad to think about, you should tell your kids that things like this do happen, and they need to be careful.

Safet of chat is something that is getting better every day. More and more people are learning the way the internet works and that is leading to a lot of people using it safer than they use to. This is good because this way we can help keep not only us safe, but our children as well. The internet is a great place to meet people and talk online, however, lots of times it should remain an internet relationship. Safet of chat is something that will keep getting better as we start making the right choices online. Hopefully one day real soon, we will not have to worry about viruses and mean people, but until that day comes, keep your eyes open and use your head.
