Online Dating And Photo Rates

Added: 10/15/2007

In the land of online dating, the photo is king. This is because you need a good picture to get people to come to your profile, the better the picture the more hits you get, it is that simple. I think that is why many online dating sites have added photo rates, so people can give you feedback on your pictures that you uploaded. This can help or hurt people, because if you get a lot of positive feedback on your photo, you are going to be very happy. However, if a lot of people put your picture down, then this could break your confidence.

Let's face it, if you are going to get into online dating, then you are going to have to upload some pictures to your matchmaking profile. After you do this, how do you know if other people liked your picture or not? Until now, all we could do is wait for people to leave a comment on your profile. Of course, that takes time and not everyone wants to leave a comment. Well, most online dating sites have now added a photo rates system. What this means, is that people can drop by your profile and rate your picture. As you may be able to see, there is a lot of mixed feelings about the photo rates system. There has been more then one case of someone getting their feelings hurt because people have rated their picture low. Why would someone get on there and do something like that? Well to put it simple there are people out there that are just plain mean. Others will just tell you what they think, and it does not matter if it hurts your feelings. Not all matchmaking sites have added this feature yet, but as online photo rating keeps growing, more and more sites will add on the photo rates system.

So what should you do if you do not want your picture rated? Well you have a few choices. Sometimes the online dating site will give you a choice if you want others to be able to rate your photos. Also, because there are a few sites out there that do not have a photo rates system, you may want to join that site instead. However I do not think running away form your problems is going to make this go away. You have to learn to stand up for yourself. If someone says something negative about your picture, a lot of times this is because they are not happy with their self. Also maybe you are just not their type of person, and that does not mean that someone else will not find you attractive. You have to remember that these photo rates systems are based on an overall score of your pictures. That does not mean that someone did not like your picture, in fact someone could of rated it very high. Most of the time you are able to look and see how many people have rated your picture. Of course, it is not a good idea to get all bent out of shape if you get one bad comment. In fact, you may be able to use those comments to better yourself. Lots of times these people are just trying to help you, and if you take their input, you may come out better in the long run.

Photo rates systems can be fun, but it is a good idea not to wear your feelings on the outside. If you want to be part of an online dating site, then you are going to have to learn and take things as they come at you. Matchmaking sites are a great way to meet new people, but now they can be a place to help you better yourself. Not everyone is just trying to be mean to you, sometimes they really are trying to help you. Learn to work with people and you will start getting more hits on your profile than you know what to do with. You cannot use an online dating site the way it is suppose to be used if you do not upload some pictures of yourself. Do not just waste this chance to better yourself. Go out there and show the world that you are happy with who you are, and no one is going to bring you down.
