Citations, what are they and how should we use them? I am not talking about the police ticket version, but more the credit and reference of another work used in our own so people can look them up. There are many different types of citations, all with a set of their own guidelines and specific style that you should follow when using them. Here we'll look at the basics of citation and some of the guidelines and styles for some of the fields.

What are citations? Citations are either the act of citing, a source cited, a quotation, a reference to previous court decisions or authoritative writings, enumeration or mention, an official commendation for meritorious action, a formal statement of the accomplishments of one being honored with an academic degree or an official summons, especially one calling for appearance in court.
