Need to Buy Birth Control? Read on!

Do you need to buy birth control, but aren't sure how? There are a wide array of birth control methods and products available. Before you decide on one method (or perhaps a combination of birth control methods), examine your options carefully. Everybody's needs are different-with some research, you'll be able to determine which birth control option is best for your situation.

Birth control refers to any method, technique, or physical mechanism used to prevent pregnancy.  There are so many different kinds of birth control that if you're looking to buy birth control for the first time, the options can seem overwhelming.

First, determine what kind of birth control is best suited for your situation.  Do you need birth control on a regular basis?  In this case, birth control pills would be a good choice.  In order to buy birth control pills, you will need to get a doctor's prescription.  In some states, however, it is possible to get a prescription online.  If you are considering ordering your birth control pills online, be careful that the online pharmacy is legitimate.  If you decide to buy from an illegitimate pharmacy, you may run the risk of buying birth control pills that are expired, or perhaps don't contain the right amount or combination of hormones suitable for your body.

Before you are prescribed birth control pills, some health care providers require that you receive a gynecological exam.  If you are underage and would like to buy birth control pills, most of the time parental permission is not necessary.  Some providers, however, will require parental permission, so make sure to check if this is a concern.

Once you have received your prescription, most drugstore pharmacy's should be able to fill it.  When you buy birth control pills, remember that they are only effective in preventing pregnancy, and not any kind of sexually transmitted diseases.

The other most common type of birth control are prophylactics-also known as condoms.  If you decide to buy this type of birth control, you'll find many options available.  Latex condoms, the most common, are proven to be effective against pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STD's).  A small percentage of people, however, are allergic to latex, so make certain you or your partner can wear them.  The other most common type of condom is polyurethane.  Polyurethane is a type of plastic sheath that is effective in blocking sperm and STD's.  Some individuals prefer polyurethane condoms because they are a bit thinner than latex.  Another, less common type of condom, is made of animal membrane. These condoms have small microscopic openings that can allow some viruses to pass through, but are effective in blocking sperm.  Animal membrane condoms, then, are only suitable for couples who wish to prevent to pregnancy, not STD's.

If you are not looking to buy birth control, but instead would like information about surgical abortion, read on.  Surgical abortion is a medical procedure that is usually done on an outpatient basis.  Before the procedure is done, a medical professional must run tests to determine that the woman is pregnant.  Once this has been established, and a woman has chosen to undergo surgical abortion, a procedure called vacuum aspiration is usually performed.  During this procedure, the cervix is opened, and the fetus and placenta are removed.  The procedure is short, usually lasting between 5 and 10 minutes, and is considered to be relatively safe, with only minor discomfort experienced by most women.
