The stories of the Celtic people have been around for almost 25 centuries. That is because most of the Celtic people were scattered around Europe and they preserved their culture and tradition through stories. It is also therefore understandable why the name Celtic is so common in most European history. It is the emblem of the past that ties people of different cultures and traditions together. The most common ideology that people associate the Celtic people with is the image of barbaric men and women. This is logical in the sense that communication had to be made possible in some way or the other. Another notable aspect about Celtic people is that they were praised for their metal work which is said to be high quality. It is also found that the Celtic people were both artistic and advanced in the way that they worked with metal. The strange yet amusing fact is that the name Celtic has no clear derivation. Even researchers have found it to be a hard task in finding out where the name Celtic came from and what does it actually mean.

There are some that have taken a guess so that at least the name Celtic should find a significant definition. But the exact and root of the meaning is yet to be discovered. A whole lot of things have obscured the findings of Celtic heritage. So it might not ever be discovered as to the true essence of what the Celtic people were all about. There seems to be many conflicting ideas about the name Celtic as well. Some say that it comes from the Romans Celtae and others claim if comes from the Greek Galatatae.  However one thing is for certain the romantic notion of a lone highlander is one that will always be linked with the Celtic people. How else can we escape this reality when it seems to be a popular story line with international movie makers?
