Must You Be Rich to be a French Naturist?

Added: 09/29/2006

The French Naturist has been around for more than a hundred years but today this popular activity has been turned into a multi-million dollar industry that some suggest caters only for the rich. The French attitude towards nudity has always been less restrained when compared with the English. So how can simply divesting yourself of clothing have become an experience only the wealthy can enjoy in a country with more latitude than most about standing around in the buff?

In the beginning a French Naturist was an individuals’ who threw off their clothes as a protest against society’s bunkered culture with its lack of tolerance relating to nudity in public. However, times have changed and the French Naturist now enjoys what is a recognized activity that attracts a large section of the general public. Some French Naturist holiday resorts attract up to 10,000 people during peak season, so it seems reasonable to suggest that the notion of holiday in France without clothes is popular. French family nudism is yet another aspect of the Naturist culture that makes the notion of nudism universally acceptable. By encompassing an entire family in the naturist culture it is possible to generate the belief that Naturist thinking is a fully rounded concept that truly supports healthy benefits no matter what your age group.

In addition France is the leading European country for health spas which have proved popular for over a century. Hot spring water treatments in support of improving skin tone etc are now enhanced by trained beauticians who utilize modern technologies designed to augment benefits. Many spa treatment centers recommend that users divest themselves of all clothing prior to any of the treatments offered which include baths, water jet showers, under water jet sprays, water massages and massage with revitalizing agents such as mud and algae.

A reason behind the French Naturist developing a culture status within the country possibly relates to a significant trend by the general public towards fitness. Keeping oneself fit is generally reflected by a well proportioned body and, if you happen to have one of those, displaying it seems the right thing to do otherwise what is the point of creating a beautiful structure that no one is able to see and appreciate? Regular gym trainers today are often eager to show off the sculpted muscular form that they have created through regular exercise. Muscle power and tone have developed into another industry that attracts millions of dollars and also plays its part in the promotion of nudity. However, it would be wrong to suggest that fitness gyms with body building as a main facility interacts as one with the Naturist’s culture, they do not, but what they do is increase the market of people willing to appear nude in public. The ripple effect of this is for a more liberal inclination by the general public towards nudism.

Pockets of naturist holiday villages have gradually developed across France and because this large country is able to offer a diverse coastline which includes both the Atlantic and Mediterranean seas, the type of naturist resorts available do differ in the facilities available.

To the unseasoned naturist the first moments of stepping into public without clothes is possible the toughest. Of primary importance as any naturist will tell you, is the mind-set that an individual needs to adopt when making the decision to shed all clothing, and the need to ignore the initial sense of vulnerability. However, for those able to overcome society’s programming the relief appears to be very worthwhile with an opportunity to relax in public in a way not previously experienced. This psychological milestone is obviously supported by the presence of other naturists One of the most popular naturist resorts in France is Cap D’agde which has a population in excess of 35,000. This naturist community just a five hours train ride away from Paris is recognized as the world’s premier nudist resort.

The biggest disappointment about naturist villages in France impacts on those who enjoy the lifestyle to a point whereby they want to either retire or simply move in. Anyone with a notion to purchase a home at one of these village resorts will be dismayed at the price of even a small unit. Hence the rising belief that you need to be rich before you can afford to adopt a naturist lifestyle in France.
