If spamming is so bad then why does it happen on such a wide scale? Well it benefits two parties in this whole procedure. The spamming companies i.e. the ones who are sending mails advertising their products. More and more people recognize their products and might end up buying one as well. The other advantage is to the spammers. They are the beneficial in this process. They spam on behalf of the company spending a couple of hours in front of their computers and what they earn is twice as much as they put effort to it. If you are working for a well known company you might get paid $400-$500 a week. The funniest part is that sometimes you might get mails saying “Fight Spam on the Internet” and they themselves are nothing but spam. They go on and on about spamming but really the whole mail is not taking you anywhere. These mails are sent to a lot of people at the same time.
As the receiver directly bears the cost of storage, delivery and processing, one could consider spam as the electronic correspondent of "postage-due" junk mail. Due to the growing numbers of spammers a continuity of spamming one believes that only the government and law can stop this. "Today, much of the spam volume is sent by career criminals and malicious hackers who won't stop until they're all rounded up and put in jail.”
Another kind of spamming is chat spam. This takes place in chat rooms or a chat environment like mIRC. What happens in chat spamming is that some people send the same messages to one or more than one person. This can happen in anyone’s private message or even on the main page of the chat room. This may also called as flooding. The spammer uses thousands of nicks i.e. BNC’s to send the same message over and over again. Usually what happens with this type of spamming is that a person ends up getting so many packets that he or she loses her internet connection and goes offline. If you have ever been spammed this way trust me its very annoying. Sad hackers trying to “pwn” you and trying so hard to convince that they rule over you or whatever.
Now the usage of cellular phones has introduced spamming through cell phones as well. Ridiculous texts are sent to other cell phone owners and this may get very problematic due to the charges the recipient has to pay while getting a spamming text. The word "SpaSMS" was created at the ad news website Adland in 2000 to describe spam SMS.
The best way to avoid more and more spam is not to register yourself on every website giving them your personal email address otherwise they will keep spamming you with their offers and discounts that might not interest you at all. Have your junk email settings put to high so that your storage of inbox is not taken up by spam mails.
