Added: 12/21/2007

Loch Lomond is the famous national park in Scotland and based on Loch Lomond. This is made of many hill ranges and the well known of them is Trossachs. This was established in the year 2002 by the Scottish parliament along with Cairngorms National Park. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs Park measures about 1,865 km 2 in area and is the fourth largest among the national parks in the British Islands.

The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs Park is in Scotland and extends from Arrochar in the western side to Callander in the eastern side. Again it extends from Balloch In the southern end to Crianlarich In the northern portion. The National Park can be distinctively divided into four areas:
1.Loch Lomond – Loch Lomond Is the largest spread of fresh water in the United Kingdom. This is very caringly protected by Ben Lomond on one side. This one of the most romantic places on the universe. In the northern side the loch runs narrow and very deep and has steep sided boundaries of mountains. Down south it takes the shape of an island that is known for its scenic beauty.
2.The Trossachs: In between Callander and Aberfoyle there are many mystic valleys and small lakes. This place is often referred to as the ’Highlands in miniature’.
3.Argyll Forest: The southern portion is often referred to as the ‘Arrochar Alps’ . Coming through the mountain pass this is a very poetic experience and the view from the highest point of Glen Croe is beyond words can express. From here the road starts descending towards Lochgoihead passing through Hell’s Glen.
4.Breadalbane: Breadalbane is known as the ‘land of giants’. Some of the Scotland’s famous munroe peaks like the ‘Ben Lui’, ‘Ben Challum’, ‘Ben More’ and ‘Ben Vorlich’ Пare found from Tyndrum to Glen ogle.
This place has in it everything in it, from gentle smooth grass lands and hills to rugged mountains. This is one of the most spectacular places on the earth and definitely one should visit and enjoy the scenic beauty there. Within this park there are a minimum of seven very big fresh water lakes and bays. The variation the heights of the mountains are unbelievable. There exist small hill ranging from 700 feet (Callander Crags) to 3000 feet tall ‘Muroes’ and even further to an height of 3843 feet is Ben More with its sister 3820 feet. At the western end the park has sea loch like Loch Long and Gare Loch which runs deep into Arrochar grasslands. There is no dearth of interesting places in the Loch and the Trossacks National Park. Scotland castles are very famous as we all have learnt in our history lessons and such magnificent castles are plenty over here. Many castles are ruined like Breadalbane and there are many graves and ancient earthwork around Callander which speaks about Scotland’s history and civilization. Many museums and exhibitions are around for sight seeing.
Queen Victoria often visited her favorite place at Loch Vennachar in Trossachs. Great poems of Sir Walter Scott like ‘Rob Roy Macgregor’ and ‘the Lady of the Lake’ are said to be inspired by this place.
The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National park is in itself a natural playground in itself. One can freely walk, cycle, trek, do mountain biking, coarse fishing, horse riding or indulge in water sports like sailing or canyoning.
The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National park is well maintained and taken care of by the authorities. Through the various programs and visitor facilities introduced by the park, the visiting people have understood the park and they thoroughly enjoy it.
