Local Celebrations For Festivus

If you are a fan of the hit TV show Seinfeld then you have heard of the holiday for Festivus. The celebration for Festivus comes on December 23, but do keep in mind that this is not a real holiday in the United States and was just for the TV show. However, Seinfeld was such a hit for so long that many people started celebrating Festivus for real. However, Festivus is an annual holiday invented in ancient Rome, and became popular in the States after the hit TV show. You can see the episode called The Strike on season 9, episode 10 of Seinfeld.

Many people think that Festivus is not a real holiday because it was brought up on the comedy TV show Seinfeld. However, the celebration for Festivus is very real, and it does include a practice that is called airing of grievances. When you do this for Festivus you gather around everyone and tell each person how they have disappointed you over the course of the year. After that, for Festivus you also eat a Festivus dinner, and then the finally part comes up. The final part for Festivus is called the feats of strength, which are preformed by wrestling with the head of the household to the floor and pinning him or her. Also, it is said that Festivus does not end until the head of the household has been pinned to the floor. Whenever this was shown on Seinfeld it was taken as a big joke, however, it did not stay that way for long. You have to know that Seinfeld was a part of everyone's life for almost 10 years, and it had a very big following. Because of this people started thinking of ways to celebrate Festivus for real. If you still do not understand what Festivus is all about, you really should watch the Seinfeld show; even though it is a comedy show they do a great job telling and explaining what Festivus is all about.

So many people were influenced by the Seinfeld show that lots of people all over America now do the celebration for Festivus. Of course, not everyone does it the way that it is suppose to be done, because it is done in varying degrees of seriousness. Lots of people follow the TV show and other books for Festivus very carefully. Others find other ways of inventing and reinventing this holiday. Of course, there were a few things different in the TV show than for Festivus in real life. One thing to remember is that for Festivus some people do not celebrate it during December 23 because they want to do it around a time when Christmas is not commercialized. However, the Seinfeld show that had Festivus in it came out around Christmas so to show this they used a different way. Instead of putting up a Christmas tree they put up an aluminum pole. During the celebration for Festivus the pole is displayed, and this is where you sit to tell everyone else how much they have disappointed you. No matter how you choose to celebrate, or even if you choose to celebrate Festivus at all, remember that there are a lot of different ways to go about it. Just be sure no one gets hurt during the celebration for Festivus.

Some people think that celebrating Festivus is a good thing, because it allows us all to get our feelings out. It is not good to keep them bolted up, and Festivus lets us get them out. However, lots of people just celebrate this holiday because it was on a famous TV show. No matter what your reason for celebrating it is, you may be doing the right thing by celebrating it. This is a great time for everyone to get together and talk with everyone. It is also a good time to get all the negative things you have to say off your chest and into open air. Then you get to release the rest of your problems with wrestling with the head of the house hold. This is a funny plot for a show, but at the same time it is a good way to get your problems off your chest.
