Living Christianity Today A Worthwhile Choice For A Liberal

Christianity today takes on many forms in many peoples minds. Add to that the word liberal Christianity and people will think of that person as a backslidden Christian. The most important aspect to remember is living the Christian life is a personal matter. Most people believe that living life as liberal Christianity is like an oxymoron. To be a liberal Christian is to be free of the dialectic process and continental philosophy. In other words it's not a left wing political agenda; it's a term covering diverse informed deeply imbedded religious beliefs.

Religious freedom and belief is personal, and oftentimes debatable by society as a whole. Christianity today and the Christian lifestyle are mainly described as conservative and strict. That is not a fair statement especially for the people living in the liberal Christianity lifestyle. This term of liberal is not to be confused with the leftist political agenda. Instead liberal Christianity denotes a characteristic willingness to interpret scripture in a broad-minded and intellectually independent manner. Also they may hold beliefs which are very common and related to traditional, orthodox, and conservative Christians.

Liberal Christianity believes in diversity and realizes that life is a complex spiritual journey. Each person is on this journey and is confronted with revelations and unique experiences. These liberal believers welcome a variety of approaches to understanding God and are open to many ways of seeking and understanding the divinity of life. Another controversial issue in being liberal is the notion that the scriptures are to be looked at, read, and studied as a non-literal approach. In other words the scriptures are to be consulted, but realize the time, place, and culture in which they were written play an important role in the imperfect quality. Not to mention that some of the human authors will give the Bible an imperfect quality and authority.

Living Christianity today means promoting, teaching, and believing that the teachings of Jesus are central to living the Christian life. The beliefs and faith of liberal Christianity is an intimate, personal view of God, and this faith in God allows the Spirit to be seen in the mundane of everyday life. So that would mean that there is little distinction between the natural and the supernatural world, therefore they do not look for “miracles” to validate God’s existence.

So how does one practice living Christianity today? This can be easily accomplished. For one thing completely understand your faith, and beliefs. Practice living life knowing your faith. Be honest with yourself and others even when being an individual. This will provide you with a sense of integrity and the knowledge of knowing your faith and beliefs will help maintain your commitment to liberal Christianity. With that commitment you will not falter among the stones of words being thrown at you by the traditional and conservative Christian.

Christianity today means many things to many people, and many will suspect that being involved or labeled as liberal Christianity is a cover for yourself, and that you really don’t believe in God. That is the farthest from the truth. Know matter what the principles of living Christian are the same. Those principles include praying; righting a wrong, tithing to God’s work, calling upon your friends and neighbors who are sick or incapacitated. Form habits of touching all phases of life. Be true and trustworthy having integrity and dignity, and be faithful to the love of God and your neighbor. With these principles will promote living Christianity today, even if you practice liberal Christianity.
