Although he was a fat young boy in his earlier days, he grew up to a tall and gangly young man. His height is 6feet and 3inches. He is credited to full of energy and life.
After finishing his high school he went on to work as an extra for ‘Ghoulies 3’, Ghoulies Go to College in 1991. Even before that Lillard Matthew hosted “SK8 TV”. This was a Nickelodeon Skater Sports Show.His father wanted him to take up a career in sales and so asked Matthew LIllard to attend either acting classes or go for typing lessons. He opted for acting classes and enjoyed them subsequently. Later he went on to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Pasedena in Californiaalong with actor Paul Rudd. He also studied drama in the ‘theater school circle’ in the square, New York City. Later he-founded the Summoner’s Ensemble theater group.
In the year 2000, when Lillard Matthew was 30, he married Heather Helm. They are blessed with two children who they have named Addison Grace and Macey Lyn.
The character of Shaggy which he played in the ‘Scooby-Doo’ film series probably brought him this recognition. Apart from this, the movies have been listed blow along with the year:
•1991: Ghoulies III – Ghoulies fo to college. This is his first film.
•1994: Serial Mom. He plays a teenaged son of a maniac in this John Water’s movie
•1995: Animal Room, Mad Love and Ride for your life and Hackers .In’ Hackers’ he is shown as eccentric computer genius who is a serial killer.
•1996: Scream and Tarantella. Scream was his first popular and successful film where he plays the role of wisecracking geek.
•1997: Scream 2.
•1998: Dead Man’s Curve, SLC Punk!, Senseless, Telling You, Dish Dogs and Without Limits. SLC Punk is an outright comedy movie and is considered his best film so far. Here he plays the role of teenager who has lost himself completely to the punk culture of the 1980’s. In ‘Dish Dogs’ he stars opposite Sean Austin and they play a pair of road travelers who has to pay their way only by washing dishes.
•1999: She’s All That, Spanish Judges and Wing Commander.
•Love’s Labour’s Lost. ‘Love’s Labour’s Lost, a Shakespeare classic, is a movie set in the 1930’s. A musical film which not only saw one of Lillard Matthew’s finest performances but also proved that the actor could sing as well.
•2001: Finder’s Fee, Summer Catch, Thir13en Ghosts and Triangle Square.
•2002: Scooby Doo. He plays the character of Shaggy in the series of Scooby Doo.
•2004: The Perfect Score, Scooby Doo 2: Monster Unleashed, Wicker Park and Without a paddle.
