I've often wondered whether people get the terms celibacy and abstinence mixed up. Or if the line that divides the two has become blurred. Just for the record, 'celibacy' means renouncing the concept and tradition of marriage. And abstinence is a renouncing of sexual relations. There's about 5,000 years of religious dogma in place that adresses the importance of celibacy in the priesthood and abstinence in everyday life.
