In 1998 Ashton Kutcher went to NBC to do a reading for a new series they were casting called Wind On Water. After reading for the role Ashton Kutcher was not completely sold on the idea of being a surfing cowboy that goes around getting into adventures. Then his agent called and told Ashton Kutcher about a show that was being read for called Teenage Wasteland. So Ashton went off to read for Teenage Wasteland cold without any preparation at all. To matters more interesting he told his agent and the producers for the show that he needed an answer by 3:45pm that day because NBC wanted an answer of Wind on Water by 4pm and even though Ashton did not like the role he needed the work so he would have had to take it. By 3:45pm Ashton Kutcher got his answer that he got the role of Kelso on Teenage Wasteland so he gladly turned down NBC. Before it hit the air for the first episode Teenage Wasteland had changed its name to That 70’s Show and over 7 seasons later Ashton Kutcher was a star.
In movies Ashton kicked around various roles until he got his breakthrough movie role in the 2000 comedy hit Dude, Where’s My Car? where it was as much Ashton Kutcher as the movie itself that brought people out to the theater. The commercial success of Dude opened up doors to movies like The Butterfly Effect, The Guardian, and Open Season which were all big roles for Ashton Kutcher. In 2005 he married Hollywood legend Demi Moore who is many years Ashton’s senior but the two remain happy to this day and Ashton Kutcher has left That 70’s Show, refusing to sign on for an eighth season so he could pursue other projects, and possibly revive his popular MTV show Punk’d which went off the air after 1 season on MTV but gathered a loyal and large following that hopes to see it return some day in the future.
