Learning to Deal with the Temptations of Life

Added: 07/19/2006

The temptations of life can be an obstacle for those living the Christian life. Temptation is a part of life and always will be. Learning to deal with the temptations of life will cause you to be a better Christian despite a few shortcomings once in awhile. Giving in to temptation is not a sin, however, dwelling on temptation and becoming obsessed with those types of thoughts is.

The temptations of life are a part of life. Learning to deal with the temptations of life will cause you to be a better Christian. Temptation can come in many different forms and as a Christian you may feel as though you are being attacked by temptation. There are two ways of resisting temptation. One way is to leave the scene where you are being tempted and the other is to stay and fight the temptation. God will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, so if you feel like you can stay and resist the temptation do so. Resisting will only make you stronger in the long run. The Bible says, "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it" (1 Corinthians 10:13, NIV).

It is important to remember that the devil only tempts those who are living right. By living the Christian life, you are opening yourself up to temptation. Temptations lyrics may come in many forms from the music you listen to or your own friends. The origin of temptations lyrics is the devil. The devil will recognize your weaknesses and tempt you through them. Those weaknesses may be alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling or some other weakness that causes you to sin and forget that you are a Christian. Becoming closer to God and the Christian way of life will help you learn to fight off the tempting feelings. As you become closer to God, you will learn to recognize the temptations in your life and you will learn to resist them.

The temptations in life have three purposes. The first purpose is to lure Christians towards sin. Just as the snake in the garden did to Adam and Eve, the apple was tempting and he lured them to the temptation of eating the apple. The second purpose of temptation is to discourage God's children. As a child of god, the devil encourages temptation, as he wants to destroy your bond between you and God. One should not allow Satan to keep you preoccupied with temptations and cause you to become discouraged with the Christian way of life. The third purpose is to make us self-centered. By keeping you occupied with your own temptations of life, you are unable to reach out to others and spread the word of the Lord. Your own temptations become priority over the needs of others and those living the Christian life should always be respectful of others needs.

The devil only tempts those who are living the Christian life and who are good people. One should rejoice when they are tempted, as you know that you are fulfilling your duty as a Christian and living the proper Christian life. Remember that God does not use temptation to test Christians-only the devil uses temptation. God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he attempt to tempt anyone else. One should realize that temptation is not a sin, but it is a tool of the devil that he uses on Christians. Sin comes after you yield to those temptations. One should abide to God and hold fast in tempting situations. Only those living the Christian life are tempted and God has given you the power to resist those temptations.
