The Hot Chick is a movie that came out in 2002 and it is definitely a comedy film. The main role is played by Rob Schneider who plays a criminal. The opening scene in the movie is about as deep as the plot gets, but that is all you really need during a movie like this. The Hot Chick starts off in an ancient Abyssinia wedding. There is a princess who does not like the man she is going to marry so she chooses to switch places with a slave girl by way of magic earrings. Well, maybe this is not the deepest plot you have ever heard, but you can kind of see where the movie is going from here. After that the rest of the movie revolves around a girl, named Jessica, who is the head of the cheer squad at her school. This is one of those girls that does not care about other people's feelings, and does not care if she hurts someone. In case you did not get it yet, Jessica is the one that is referred to as the hot chick (which is a slang word used by men and women to describe a girl that is very pretty or sexy). As you may have guessed, Rob Schneider ends up stealing these earrings, and they switch bodies with each other. As you can guess, now the movie gets pretty funny from there as Jessica's friends work on ways to get there bodies switched back and help them deal with the different social situations they get into because of the body switching. That is pretty much what the movie is about.

Although The Hot Chick is a funny film the plot of the movie is not that different from other movies that have come out like it. This is a plot that has been done before (maybe not just like this but pretty close) and may not be funny to everyone anymore. The Hot Chick as you may have guessed was a movie that was loved by younger people who are in middle school and high school. Most of the older people did not find the comedy in this movie to be funny, and some even called it distasteful. No matter how you look at the movie there are parts in there that will make just about anyone laugh. However, it does help if you are a fan of Rob Schneider. He is not one of my favorite actors so The Hot Chick was not a movie that was as funny to me. However, I did get the comedy in the film and saw lots of parts that I did like. Lots of Rob Schneider's movies are about him switching bodies with other people. In fact, the movie The Animal came out too close to the same time that The Hot Chick did, and The Animal was about him acting like a lot of different animals that he switched roles with.

If you like this type of comedy, or you like Rob Schneider, then you are going to like The Hot Chick. However, I do think a few of Rob Schneider's movies were funnier. Although this ones does have its moments. If you are with a group of friends and you are ready to laugh, then you need to go out and rent this movie. Let's face it, The Hot Chick is a better movie when you watch it in a big group because sometimes what is really funny is hearing other people laugh at what is going on. So if you have not seen this movie go out and get it today, and you may find out if this is a movie you would like to add to your DVD collection.
