A learning disabilitiy can be put into one of these four categories, input, integration, output, or storage. An input learning disabilitiy can cause problems with visual perception. This can hurt them from learning sequencing or even processing time intervals. One sign of this could be for the child to not like to be touched. The output category is just how it sounds. The child or teen may have problems with language, writing, or even muscle activities to output brain activities. The child will know the answer to a question but may not know how to go about communicating it. Problems with storage has to do with memory. They may have a problem with their short or long term memory, however, it mostly deal with short term memory. The last one is integration. This deals with the way that information is processed in the brain. If your kid has a problem with this, they may not be able to tell a whole story. It may be hard for them to remember sequences like the days of the week. Just because a child has a learning disabilitiy, does not mean he cant overcome it.
Its said to see a kid or teen having a problem with a learning disabilitiy. It would be even worse to see that same child have to go their whole life without any help. Thats why we have to find these kids early so we can help them, as a person gets older it is harder to help them overcome these problems. This is not something we want them just to deal with, this is something we want them to be able to overcome. The sooner they get help the better. If you think your child may be having a problem, you need to bring it to the schools knowledge so they can give that child the help it needs. Even if you see your kids friend having problems you should bring it up to their parents, because that child's parents may not know. Schools can only do so much in finding these problems before its to late, its up to us to help them find the problems. With so many kids coming through the schools its going to get harder of the schools to do it alone, thats why we have to help before it gets any worse. Thank you for all your help, lets save our future leaders.
