A user might go online and surf the internet for as long as he or she wants. But the drawback of visiting online websites is that the more you surf and search the more you are likely to get infected by malicious software. Some of the main function of this malicious software is to pop up advertisements while you are working on your computer. Therefore, pop-up blocker is a must.
Another kind of pop-up advertisement is pop-under advertisement, which opens a new browser window hidden under the active window. Pop-unders do not butt in the user straight away and are not seen until the covering window is closed, making it more difficult to determine which web site opened them. Pop-unders can be extremely annoying for people who are used to leaving several tabs prepared for another session, as unnoticed pop-under will be considered by the browser as the last open window. This will cause the browser to open the ad at the next start, instead of the prepared tabs.
These advertisements might not be annoying to people but they do get on your nerves when they keep popping up from nowhere. It happens so many times that you are typing an instant message or working on a project, presentation etc and when you look up there is a pop-up advertisement in front leaving your work behind. All those things you typed are gone to vain and you have to type them all over again. An internet user cannot surf conveniently unless he or se has a pop-up blocker installed and running on their computers. The main function of a pop-up blocker is to block pop-ups, unwanted advertisements that the user is not interested in looking at. Although Internet Explorer also allows you to block pop-up advertisements but there are some other softwares available as pop-up blocker who do their job well.
The most famous kind of pop-up blocker is the Google Toolbar which allows a user to block pop-up advertisements. The URL of the webpage can be entered to block pop-ups from a particular website. Yahoo! Toolbar is also available on the internet for blocking pop-ups. Sometimes you might still get pop-up advertisements even if you have a pop-up blocker running. That is because there might be a software, file installed or present in your computer hard drive which makes the pop-up blocker allow that advertisement to appear. To stop that from happening one might have to delete those files or software from your computer to avoid anymore pop-ups.
Some of the basic functions of a pop-up blocker are discussed below:
•Stop, Block, and Destroy Popup Ads: Prevent advertisements from muddling your internet experience.
•Allow popup from trusted sites: Not all pop-ups are bad and we shouldn't throw the good out with the bad ones
•Save Time and Internet Bandwidth: No longer will advertisements overcome your Internet speed which means web surfing will be faster and ultimately more enjoyable.
•Supports Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows ME, and Windows 98
