John Travolta must be the only A list actor in Hollywood who must have switched careers and yet remain flying in the air. From acting, which took up and down, the dizzy starry heights he became a certified pilot owning five aeroplanes. Still well known for his evergreen musicals 'Saturday Night Fever' and 'Grease' the actor is re-jingling box office records worldwide.

A more mature face has replaced the youthful looks but the fortunes are swinging back. It would be now sometime when he would be using his commercial pilot license again. His five aircrafts remain grounded unless he has to travel in anyone of them for work. He knew he couldn’t return as the disco king but a chance meeting with Quentin Tarantino in the same home where he had began his career as an artiste. As Vincent Vega in ‘Pulp Fiction’ he got a nomination and his career got a flip start. While he gave a string of flops after his record smashing performances in 70s films he wisely chose mature subjects. Yes there was action and he did well with even ‘Get Shorty’, ‘Face/off’ ‘Civil Action’ and ‘The General’s Daughter’. He has recently regaled audiences with his role as Edna Turnbald in ‘Hairspray’. Inf act this has been his first musical after ‘Greese’. The actor called skinny bones when he was aged 12 years took to performing workshops as a duck to water. He knew very well the he would one day become an actor. Except that he did not expect disasters that led him into oblivion. John Travolta also starred in television series ‘Welcome Back Kotter’.

In 1975 he had turned to Scientology and shares view with fellow scientologist Tom Cruise. Thanks to these celebrity believers the cult is now popular, as more people want to know more. In real life he is not computer literate unlike most of the new internet savvy stars. Like any other quality parent in America he looks forward to finishing his shooting by 6 pm and returning home to check on his kids’ homeworks from school. His wife continues to be his mate. In an industry where marriages fall apart his is rock solid. He believes communicating is the best way to keep the marriage alive. And the next single motivator for him is the fear of being single. So there is no way he is going to rock his family boat for a wild night out or sexcapdes. Today the star may be getting his fee of nearly 20 millions but he is also not wiling to sit at home at the time. He wants to do a powerful musical to recreate the magic of Grease again. But he is not taking chances again. No more sequels that made him fly out of orbit. By now he should know that his good character will always make him return to the big screen, no matter how many duds he gives.
