This is one of those movies that you are going to have to see to believe. Just like in any Jackie Chan movie, The Legend of Drunken Master is a movie that is full of great martial arts and some pretty funny moments. Of course, The Legend of Drunken Master did not get released right away in the United States, and it was first released overseas under the name drunken Master II. Although there is a movie called Drunken Master, this is not a direct storyline sequel to that movie. This movie first got released in 1994 in Hong Kong and did not come out until six years later in the United States (year 2000). This is because they waited for Jackie Chan to become an established star before releasing it over here. That way The Legend of Drunken Master would sell more tickets. Jackie Chan is one of my favorite actors of all time because he is not only good at martial arts and does his own stunts, but he also is very funny on screen. His movies always have some type of humor. This is a very good Jackie Chan movie and it is one that you should watch whenever you get a chance. In fact, The Legend of Drunken Master may be a movie you want to add to your DVD collection.


The story line of The Legend of Drunken Master is about the misadventures of Wong Fei Hung. In this case, he gets involved with the affairs of the British consul, and they are smuggling ancient Chinese artifacts out of the country. It is great to watch Jackie Chan battle people in The Legend of Drunken Master because he uses a martial arts style called Drunken Boxing. Of course, what makes the movie so funny is that he becomes a better fighter whenever he consumes alcohol, but there is a twist. If he consumes too much alcohol he becomes very sluggish and unable to fight. As you can guess this is a very fine line of how much alcohol he can consume. Either way this is a movie that did very good when it comes to how much money it made overall. In fact, when it first came out in Hong Kong it grossed 40 million dollars. Later on when it came out in America as The Legend of Drunken Master it made a total of 11 million. Which is not very good, even though it did get some great reviews. I guess it does not matter because overall this is a great movie, and Jackie Chan went on to be a great hit in both America and Hong Kong.

Jackie Chan is always a lot of fun to watch on the big screen because of all the stuff that he can do. If you have ever watched a Jackie Chan movie they all have about the same feel to them. Of course, The Legend of Drunken Master has its own feel all together. This is a movie that you are going to have to put into your movie collection because it is just an overall great movie. The reviews that The Legend of Drunken Master got were great; so there is no reason why you should not run out and get this movie today. This is one of the best movies that I have ever watched with Jackie Chan in it, and you will love it too. So go out and get it; you will not be sorry you did. After all, you can buy this movie at your local store, and it is one that you will watch over and over again.
