Is the radical feminist losing her credentials, for women whom she is fighting? When the second wave of feminism stacked the decks nearly 45 years ago, there was not much fear that feminists would turn so radical. Female suicide bombers who have turned to militancy in Arab nations and abhor the western society are making women dangerous to ‘mankind’. Today’s radical feminist is fighting against men for different reasons. Unlike, in the past the radical feminist was described as one, who wanted civil rights, Legal equality, right to work and freedom of expression. Today the radical feminist is demanding alternate gender rights (which is fine), but also removing male domination (which is not fine to an extent). Without men, what will these women do? In US where freedom and liberty are prized possession s of any individual, the radical feminists choose to freely demand them through consciousness raising groups. This spread to Australia and UK as well. Extremism has defined the character of even today’s radical feminist. While in the developed countries they are fighting for removal of male domination in personal and public life, in other parts of the world especially the Arab world, these women have not been able to cut any ice. In 2006 when there was a Un conference in Istanbul, representatives of developing nations, smaller nations and Arab nations were virtually eclipsed by the radicals of the developed world.

Various icons of this century are aligning with groups. They prove to be role models for various groups of feminists. But they can only influence the average woman if they are not spewing wrong ideals or radical choices. The average women themselves are ignoring the radical feminist today. Seeing that the radical is bordering towards militancy, many women are distancing themselves. Not all women face gnawing problems with men. Even the men are changing their attitudes. The 21 century alpha male is still humane and is recognizing the prerogative of women’s’ rights. He is hardly threatening her. Yes in some corners of the world, men need to be taught a lesson and any radical feminist stands to be justified in her fight. Conservative females need to speak for themselves. Some of the voices of the next generation of radical feminist could be more volatile than they are today. As communication improves between various groups across the world, internet has provided access to study various groups and their development. Radical feminists are reaching out to others but still have a long way to go. Women living in traditional families still want the security cover of a proper family with males. It is critical for the radical feminist to understand that her emotional well-being will be secure only when she does not see the man as her enemy. Granted men are from Mars and women from Venus but that is what makes the world a beautiful place to live in. As for celebrating every march as ‘Women’s’ History Month’ let it not be a triumph for radicals or militants.
