The evolution of Irish names and Irish surnames has not just evolved over night. The Ireland names have been changing all the time, every country has had a name evolution in some point in their history it is just natural. And it doesn't take much for a change in names to begin even Irish names have to start somewhere and the Irish names that have begun this revolution started from their mothers who decided that they didn't want the normal Irish names that are considered for babies. Instead the Ireland names are now becoming more and more different has this spread to Irish surnames? Well only time will tell.
Of course not every parent will want to change the way that their child is named and they will stick with Irish names that are common to the public as well as themselves. However there are many Irish gaelic names that have not and probably will not change. Even when they become unpopular the name may still be used by a parent somewhere in Ireland these gaelic names will usually have a strong meaning and will be used a lot of the time when parents are naming their new born child. Names such as Carroll have the meaning of fierce warrior and Bridget which means strong and spirited these kinds of gaelic names are being used all the time and with good reason because when you have a name that has a strong meaning such as these then it is no wonder why the names are being used a lot.
Irish surnames are usually very interesting to research as many Irish surnames used to have a crest attached to them at some point in their history so if you have an Irish surname then it might be worth researching the crest that may have been attached to your surname. This is a good way to research your family history and maybe discover something interesting about your family history. You can even purchase the crest or you can make a replica and place your families surname underneath the crest itself. This is a great piece of equipment to usually hang around the house somewhere and to remind you of your roots especially if you are out of the country. You can also research what the symbols on the crest actually mean because just having a lion and knife hanging on your wall will look nice for the family crest but if someone asks you what it means and you do not know then it might be a bit embarrassing to tell them that you do not know. Especially if it is your families crest you will want to know the meaning so that you can show off the crest and describe to people that it symbolises power to my family's surname.
Ireland names are interesting to research due to Irelands history and if you have ever wondered where your name may of come from there is a way to find out. There are Ireland name maps that can be purchased and these show a map of Ireland with all the names and places on record that show the birth of many Irish names. Of course some maps are very old and will not show the more modern names that are attached to Irish people because of the records that were available at the time but there have been more recent maps that have been released that will cater for the more modern names that Irish people have obtained year by year.
