Inviting Calls from Any Single, Hayward Singles Included

Added: 01/25/2006

While society often tends to expect social skills in every single, Hayward singles, and singles in other California cities, might not be socially ready for frequent contact with others. When that is the case, those singles could have trouble dating. A research study being conducted at UCLA might bring an end to those troubles and a promise of better social skills for some California singles.

From Monday through Friday Joyce Lee sits by the phone in her office at UCLA. She sits there hoping for a call from some California single, any single. Hayward, CA could have among its residents one or more singles who might be calling Joyce Lee. Hayward, like all communities in the U.S. has one or more young people who suffer from the disease that Joyce plans to study.

Joyce is participating in the UCLA research study on Social Phobias, Separation Anxiety Disorders and Generalized Anxiety. The members of that study have issued a call to all the youngsters in California between the ages of 7 and 17. They want to hear from any youngster who is known to be plagued with a school or a social anxiety. They expect to hear from, among others, Hayward women and men in their teens.

The researchers have indicated no specific interest in one particular sex. Hayward youth of either sex would be of interest to those researchers, as long as those youth were known to have an anxiety disorder. They want to reach those young people well before they pursue any relation that involves sex. Hayward's most anxious residents could reap the benefits of some new therapies, therapies that promise relief from the three above-named anxieties.

The researchers understand the uncomfortable feeling that develops when one is both nervous with strangers and also single. Hayward could have singles who know that feeling. If so, those singles should call Joyce Lee. Any single who calls Joyce could be assigned to one of the study's four treatment regimens.

What are these four treatment regimens that will be tried on more than one California single? Hayward singles and the other singles in the UCLA study will receive either of the following: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), medication, a combination of CBT and medication or a placebo. Obviously participation in the study will not end the anxiety experienced by each of single. Hayward could find that a number of its singles continue to display some type of social or school phobia.

But the information gathered from this study should ease the pressure on many a single. Hayward singles and all California singles should benefit from the data collected by these UCLA researchers. That data should reveal the optimum treatment program currently available to any youngsters who suffer from a school or social phobia.

That is good news for all Hayward women. With the completion of this study there should be, hopefully, at least one less nervous male in Hayward. That should mean the presence in Hayward of one more male who feels ready to ask a girl out on a date. Hence the UCLA study could eventually lead to the scheduling of more dates within Hayward.

But this fairy tale ending to the story of the UCLA research study will only take place if there is a phone call from the right single. Hayward singles who call Joyce Lee hasten the occurrence of that fairy tale ending. Their phone calls could help them to overcome their anxious behavior and to eventually meet Mr. or Mrs. "Right."
