Interracial Marriage, Plenty of Famous Role ModelsThe world is constantly changing; with those changes comes changes in dating, relationships and marriage. When it comes down to interracial marriage; things are vastly different than they were several decades ago. No longer carrying the heavy stereotype that it once did; multiracial connections are heating up. While still causing a bit of controversy now and then; interracial couples have plenty of role models to follow.
For some reason, it has become increasingly popular for African American women to be in relationships with or marry Caucasian men. This is an opposite change on what were more popular years ago, of African American men being together with Caucasian women. Whether this is happening more often because of what is being shown on television, movies or the pictures one will see of a famous interracial marriage; one is not sure. The only certainty is that it is becoming trendier and couples do not need feel alone as Hollywood stars and other famous people are all making the same choices of love.
A very famous interracial marriage that a couple can use as a role model is rock star David Bowie and model Iman. This couple has been going strong for years. As with most marriages of the rich and famous, this one was predicted to be doomed. Not so, David Bowie and Iman’s love is stronger than ever. They have not had so much as a quarrel that has shown up in the tabloids. This couple has stood the test of time.
In addition, Tonya Pinkins is going strong in her relationship with Ron Brever. Add to that Chaka Khan being reported as in a very serious relationship with a man from Germany and a couple heading toward interracial marriage need not feel alone. People are outwardly stating the color simply does not matter.
Whoopi Goldberg is conceivably one of the most famous African American comedic actresses of all time. She has been in more movies than one can calculate and she also is known for her amazing fund-raising work, via comedy events. Whoppi was long in love with Ted Danson, a Caucasian and star of the long-running television comedy, “Cheers”. .
Interracial marriage will most likely soon be something that doesn’t even cause an eye to blink. Celebrity and amazing awarded-winning actor Robert DeNiro makes his point very clear: he has repeatedly told the press that he prefers to date African American woman. In fact, DeNiro has never been photographed with any other type of woman. Jeff Goldbulm is running right beside DeNiro, as he also publicly states of his preference and his belief that interracial marriage is completely acceptable.
As more and more people step out into the public, it is hoped that one day interracial marriage will be 100% accepted, just as it should be. Those who have a problem with this issue should perhaps take a good look in the mirror and ask why color is so important. With all of the famous people who are not afraid to tell the world of who they feel, neither should any other interracial couple. The world will continue changing and more ethnic backgrounds will blend. When it comes to an interracial marriage, one can only ask, “who’s next?’.
