In Lincoln, Single People Know How To Have Fun

Lincoln is the capital of Nebraska as well as the home of the main campus of the University of Nebraska. Although thinking of Nebraska rarely conjures up images of fun and interesting things for singles to do, nothing could be further from the truth. There from music to bars and clubs to outdoor activities, Lincoln single people have a lot to choose from. Lincoln, Nebraska is a fun town that offers many opportunities for people of all ages and proclivities.

Lincoln, Nebraska is located in the south eastern portion of that state, roughly an hour's drive southwest of Omaha. A city of about a quarter million, it is not only the state's capital, but also the home of the University of Nebraska flagship campus.  Being the home of a large university is almost a guarantee that there will be lots of fun and interesting things to do, no matter where you are in the country and Lincoln is no exception.  For this reason, Lincoln single residents of all ages have great opportunities to meet people and pick up prospective mates.

There are some items that people should be aware of before they go diving into the  Lincoln single scene.  The first one is that the population of Lincoln, like much of the state of Nebraska, is primarily white, nearly ninety percent of the residents of Lincoln are white, according to the 2000 Census. So, if you do not date white people, this could limit your options substantially.  Another item with which people looking for love in Lincoln is that most of the permanent residents (i.e. not students) have more traditional values when it comes to marriage, dating and family.  Over fifty percent of people over the age of 15 living in Lincoln are married.  That is high compared to more metropolitan mid-western cities.  For example, in Denver, only forty-three percent of people over 15 are married, and in Minneapolis, that number is thirty-six percent.

However, there is still a lot of opportunities to meet people in Lincoln.  Single people can have great success dating in Lincoln and have a blast at the same time.  There is an extensive list of bars and clubs that showcase current bands and music that are hot.  Lincoln single residents should love music.  For example there is, Duffy's Tavern and Knickerbockers, both on O street.  The Royal Grove and Rococo Theater also host musical acts many nights of the week.  If your tastes are a little more sophisticated, try The Lied Center for the Performing Arts.   If you like an alcohol-free night out, try Steamers Coffee House on Havelock, Mo Java Café on 48th Street or Crescent Moon Coffee House. 

Of course, Lincoln has many arts and galleries that host event that might be the perfect place to meet someone new.  Lincoln single people can gather at the Noyes Art Gallery and Studio on 9th Street.  They have an opening reception the first Friday of every month which is open to the public.  Other galleries where Lincoln single people can mix and mingle include the Burkholder Project and the Gallery Nine Professional Artists Affiliation, which is also on 9th Street. 

There can be extreme weather in Lincoln, hot summers, cold winters, with mild spring and summers.  There are many different outdoor activities that you can partake in both for enjoyment and to meet other singles.  Nearby recreation areas include Bluestem, Branched Oak, and Olive Creek.  All these areas offer opportunities to explore nature and participate in water or land sports, the perfect setting to meet a potential mate.

Although Lincoln may be small, there is plenty to see and do and many ways for single people to meet and mingle.  This town offers lots of fun and excitement for visitors and residents alike.
