If You Have A Prostate, Treat It With Respect.

Added: 05/25/2007

One of the male's reproductive organs is hidden inside his lower abdomen. Because it is not readily visible, it tends to be ignored. It is usually when a man experiences problems that he seeks professional help. The organ is the prostate gland. Men usually ignore this part of the reproductive system. They do not see the prostrate, treat it as if it does not exist and often have serious negative effects.

For the male, the prostate seems to be a rather unnoticed member so many times. It is only when the organ begins to give him problems that a man becomes aware of this part of his being that is hidden away in his lower abdomen.
There are several situations which cause concern about this member of the male sexual apparatus. When some of these occur, a man thinks about his prostate and how little attention he has given it over the years. Often it is then rather late to change his attitudes about the prostate. Research has shown that when a man is younger, he can influence the health of this part of his reproductive system later in life. In fact, researchers in Australia have found that younger men are likely to have fewer problems with their prostrate glands in older age if they masturbate five times per week or more before the age of thirty. This sounds like a prostate treat for young men, a good reason to masturbate often.
One of the problems that older men encounter is an enlarged prostate. The onset of the problem is usually rather slowly building until there are more serious symptoms which cause a man to see his physician. His urine flow may be slow to begin, or he feels as if he still needs to urinate more after he is finished. Another symptom is more frequent urination, especially at night. About fifty percent of men over the age of sixty years have enlarged prostates. Most do not do anything about it, assuming that it is an old-age disease and cannot be cured.
Men with enlarged prostates can take steps to help the situation and bring relief. An older man should become aware of disorders of the prostate, treat it as if it is serious and try to establish a more normal lifestyle such as he had when he was younger. A urologist can determine if medicines are needed or some degree of surgical intervention. There is a rather new treatment which does not involve invasive surgery. It is microwave heat therapy so there is no blood loss, no medicines and no negative sexual side-effects. The research on this product is ongoing yet. Another recent development is the use of Botox to treat an enlarged prostate. One injection of the Botox lasts for up to a year, and results are seen in a month or less. Ongoing studies will help determine whether Botox is a legitimate alternative for patients.
A potentially more serious problem suggests that men who have a problem in the prostate treat it as potentially life-threatening. This is cancer of the prostate. Any cancer causes alarm, and prostate cancer is no exception. In fact, prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death among male cancer patients.
The options available to prostate cancer patients are radiation, surgery or watchful waiting. Besides these, there are new potential options which come to the attention of doctors.
Clearly, the choice of ignoring the cancer is not wise. As with any cancer, men with cancer of the prostate treat it as a threat to their lives. Cancers tend to grow and often invade into other organs and other areas of the body. A prostate cancer can quickly become a cancer of the bone or liver. It is essential to do something about ridding the body of this negative invader.
