Ideas For Frat Party Themes

Everyone knows that fraternity parties are a lot of fun, but sometimes they can be really memorable. Having a theme can make the evening all the more memorable. Frat party themes are almost as old as frat parties themselves. There is the classic toga party, but there are many more fun frat party themes waiting for you to try. Using a few of these ideas will really help make your party memorable instead of the Saturday night same old thing.

Frat parties are fun.  The good ones are the ones you look back on and know that is was so good that there is no way it can be repeated. It was an original. Although there are many elements that make the perfect frat party, most unforgettable frat parites had some sort of a theme.  It was a toga party or a costume party.  The themes allow people to be outrageous and funny in ways that they may not be at a conventional party.  Frat party themes can help turn just another get together with beer and the brothers into something that the whole campus will be talking about the morning.

There is always the classic toga party, made famous by the 1978 film Animal House.  Of course, men and women wear togas and the house basically turns into a scene from Caligula.  There is just something about the combination of wearing sheets with little or nothing underneath, the innate silliness, and the booze that combines to form a great party.  This is a classic and most frat parties already have some sort of toga party tradition.  And if you don't, this is one of the frat party themes that needs to be honored by every house.

Another classic is the beach party. The guests wear bathing suits and drink margaritas and rum punch while listening to island music.  For extra beachiness-you can bring in beach chairs, and maybe even some sand.  You can also bring in some kitty pools for people to splash around in, and some beach balls.  If your budget allows, you might even want to get a local reggae band to play live.  Because people will be wearing swimsuits, this is a party for just before school lets out for spring semester or just after school starts in the fall.  If you are going to have this party at any other time, make sure you have a place to stash everyone's clothes and try to keep it organized, like through a checking system, so that everyone leaves with the clothes they came with.  You could have everyone put their clothes is a plastic bag, write a number  or name on the bag, then at the end of the party, people can find the bag with their number on it.  Again, this one is one of the classic frat party themes, if your list of frat parties doesn't include this one at least once a year, it should.

A perennial favorite among the college crowd is the around-the-world party.  This party features several different areas that are made to remind people of different parts of the world.  For example, you could have a Mexican room, where there is mariachi music playing and the host, wearing a sombrero of course, is pouring shots of tequila or serving a Mexican beer like Corona or Doe Equis.  Another room could be Switzerland.  You could have a big block of ice, dig a trench in it, and pour shots of peppermint schnapps down the trench into the shooters mouth.  You should also have an American room, where you can have some dancing and serve good old American beer and/or bourbon.  This is also one of the great frat party themes.

Frat party themes, although they may sound corny, are usually a lot of fun.  Don't be embarrassed to make up your own theme or rethink a classic for your next frat party.  Be creative and adventurous and it is more than likely everyone will love it.
