These are a lot of fun and they are also a way for people to reveal parts of their personalities that they would not normally be able to reveal in real life. A clown party is for new designs only. To dress up as Bozo or Ronald McDonald or some other clown means you are going to a Halloween party. Clowns choose their make up to represent the character they want to play when they become a clown. Another fun dress up party is to dress up as someone you know. Usually this works best if a large group all knows each other and if you were to dress up as someone then most people would understand who you were trying to dress up as. It winds up becoming a contest to see who can create the most outlandish parody of someone else and it can get a little uncomfortable if someone takes it a little too far. These kinds of parties are best to have with a group that is comfortable with who they are and can take a joke. It needs to be made clear that nothing malicious will be tolerated. That is important because a fun dress up party like this can turn ugly quick if someone has a long standing grudge and they take it out at your party. But if everyone follows the rules then this is a very fun way of getting together and can bring out a lot of hidden feelings in people.
