We have all seen musicals where the leading characters fall in love. They might start their courtship with a song, and then they usually sing a love song, a song that leads to a kiss. If you are a wannabe song writer and if you aspire to be the lyrics-writer of another team like Oscar and Hammerstein, then how do you develop the needed skills for producing good kiss lyrics?

Good kiss lyrics need to represent three different sensations. To begin with, such lyrics must cause whoever is listening to the song to recall the exhilaration, the electricity of that first intimate kiss.  Good kiss lyrics should focus away from the sort of kiss that is no more than a short press, a quick peck on the cheek. With these above thoughts in mind the future song writer might then hope to encourage the sort of intimacy that would lead a date or a companion to offer a kiss. The wannabe songwriter would then anticipate that this kiss, this moment of close, confidential sharing, could become the motivation for creation of some really fantastic, some surprisingly memorable lyrics. 

Of course, the future songwriter should not need to count on the receipt of a kiss in order to derive the impulse to write good kiss lyrics. Western society has provided many different settings in which one could identify with all three aspects of kissing.  The observation of people kissing, on film, in magazine photographs or perhaps even in public could lead  a possible member of the next generation of songwriters to feel simultaneously, a thrill, an excitement and a quiet relaxation. The acquisition of that feeling would be an important accomplishment.

When a songwriter has managed to acquire that, then he or she has discovered how to write lyrics that is more than good; such a songwriter has promised many future generations the enjoyment of the most excellent kiss lyrics.  Such a songwriter demonstrates the potential to be one-half of another Lerner and Lowe musical-generating duo.
