It is very easy to play silent charades. The day before you decide to play, you come up with different topics, like movie titles, books, people, animals, etcetera, and you put them into a hat. You need is at least four people to play. To play silent charades, you split into two teams. One team goes at a time. Next, you flip a coin to see who goes first. After you split up into teams and are ready to play silent charades, you bring out the hat. One person draws a topic out of the hat. That person tells a score keeper from the other team what the topic is. The purpose to play silent charades is to get your team mates to guess what your topic is, but like every game there is a catch. The catch is that you cannot speak. You must act out the topic and get your team to guess what it is. To make things worse you have a time limit. You get about five minutes per topic. If your team can guess what the topic is, you win a point. If your team cannot guess what the topic is in the allotted amount of time, the other team has an option to answer.
When you play silent charades you can play to a certain amount of points, or you can play until you run out of topics.
Like sign language, silent charades has many hand signals that mean certain things. When you point your ear it means sounds like. When you take your hand and spin it in a circle to the side of your other hand like you’re cranking something, it means movie or movie title.
